Pregnancy & Chiropractic: Week 22 with Erin

I thought it would be fun to talk about couvade syndrome this week. Couvade syndrome is sympathetic pregnancy symptoms that your partner experiences during your pregnancy. Research shows that up to 80% of men can experience sympathetic pregnancy symptoms. These symptoms include morning sickness (nausea), cravings, and weight gain. In some extreme... cases your partner can experience labor pains and swelling of the stomach.

Studies show that couvade syndrome is brought on psychologically. This is more commmon in men that are in a female dominant relationship. It's important to note that couvade syndrome is not recognized as a medical condition.

I asked my husband if he is experiencing any sympathetic symptoms. He is noticing that he eats more. Is this due to couvade syndrome or is it because he just has an excuse to eat whatever he wants while I'm pregnant? Please tell us about your partners symptoms!
