Part Two

After a few weeks of running Rachel has been experiencing tightness in her calves, particularly her right calf. Dr. Nick Belville worked on her using a muscle work technique called Graston. This technique uses stainless steel tools to effectively break down scar tissue and reduce inflammation that causes pain and restricted mobility. After Graston he used Kinesio Tape to help reduce swelling, accelerate blood flow and help coordinate her movements to increase efficiency and reduce fatigue. In addition to these treatments she also used the foam roller throughout the week with our Exercise Rehab Specialist, Kyle Belville to help assist in breaking up the muscle knots and resume normal blood flow and function. Normal function means your muscles are elastic, healthy, and ready to perform at a moment’s notice which is especially important when running.
