"I sit at a desk all day at work. Is there anything I can do while at work to help aches and pains from sitting all day?"

Many times aches and pains associated with being sedentary for long periods of time (such as sitting at a desk at work) are due to poor posture as well as inactivity. One thing to consider is a better seated posture with good ergonomic position.

Some tips would include:

  • Sitting at appropriate height

    • Our hips and knees should be at 90 degrees.  Preferably a sit/stand desk would be ideal.

  • Sitting upright with our pelvis pushed all the way to the back end of the chair.

  • Computer should be at eye level straight ahead.  Keyboard and mouse should be close to our bodies and our shoulders should be down, back and relaxed.

  • Get up, stretch, and move around at regular intervals, at least once an hour even just for a minute or two.
