Marathon Mondays: Part Five 

With less than two weeks to go before our Half Marathon Showdown, overtraining seems to be an area of concern for Team Alpha who struggled last week with longer runs and mental and physical exertion.    

Overtraining is a result of not properly recovering between workouts on a repeated basis.  

Factors that contributed to this for Team Alpha were running too far too fast and not resting enough in between training runs.

Once you have identified the symptoms of overtraining in order to recover REST is needed.  To help speed this up you should maintain a healthy diet, stretch, and get plenty of sleep.  It is important to be able to recognize the symptoms early so that you can prevent setting yourself back in your training regimen.
